Gorillaz Ditch World Tour Plans

February 22nd, 2006 by Pete

Gorillaz Animated band Gorillaz have abandoned plans for a world tour, because it costs too much money to bring the cartoon characters to life on a regular basis.

The ‘Dirty Harry’ hitmakers - who are the brainchild of Blur singer Damon Albarn and artist Jamie Hewlett - set the Grammy Awards alight earlier this month (FEB06) when they performed with Madonna.

But it cost more than $1.5 million (£880,000) to bring Murdoc, 2-D, Russel and Noodle to the stage.

Hewlett says, “We’re just not gonna be able to do a proper tour. We’ve tried really hard to work out a way but the costs would be just astronomical.”
